I love to use them on a dress or shirt that is too big on top, it’s like a tailor in a box. You place them (like darts) on either side of the neckline and instantly it’s more form fitting.

above is a  1930-40’s dress clips in the form of a terrier dog…probably a wire haired terrier, but could be an airedale or schnauzer. The clips have a layer of silver-tone metal over some form of green plastic. Usually these metal glad pieces are Bakelite, but these are light in weight and didn’t test positive, so I’m leaning towards celluloid. The metal has hand engraved details. These clips are also unusual in that they open from the side. They are meant to be worn on a square neckline but could also face each other on lapels…

This 1940’s vintage dress clip and earrings set is in the form of a cactus with an abstract…almost atomic looking cactus of bumpy gold-tone metal (plated on pot metal), accented with hand painted red enamel. The dress clip is pictured on page 93 of Warman’s “Costume Jewelry Figurals Identification and Price Guide” by Kathy Flood. She states it was possibly made by Tortolani. The dress clip alone is valued at $150-$200, and I have the matching clip back earrings! The dress clip measures 2 1/8″ and has a clip mechanism in good working order. The clip back earrings measure 1 1/8″

This is a large TO DIE FOR Art Deco era fur clip with big open back rhinestones in RICH jewel tone colors of amethyst purple and topaz. The stones are set in heavy silver-tone metal. Fur clips look great on coats, jackets, purses, belts, lapels.
